Sitting on the couch and strumming away is fine, I enjoy doing that too, but ultimately, playing music is a communal activity – even if that may seem remote at the moment, I recommend defining a goal that includes playing with and/or for other people. Play in a band? In the school orchestra? Regularly participate in jam sessions or present a show with your own songs? A clear goal helps with focus and motivation – your music practice will gain more momentum.
Of course, you can always change direction and redefine your goal – just like with any journey.
